Endurance Test

 

The Endurance Test is open to dogs between the ages of two and eight. 

 

Handlers may jog the distance or ride a bicycle. 

 

If at any stage the ambient temperature reaches 24oC, the test is cancelled.

 

A total of 20 km is to be completed within 2 hours and 35 minutes, including the two intermediate breaks but excepting the final rest period (average speed 10kms per hour). 

 

The test shall be carried out over three varying surfaces such as bitumen, unsealed roads, dirt tracks, grass etc.

 

Dogs must pass all veterinary checks to continue, and pass a short obedience test after the final veterinary check.

 

 

The endurance test will consist of the following tasks:

 

  1. 8 km run
  1. Rest period - 15 mins, including veterinary check
  1. 6 km run
  1. Rest period - 20 mins, including veterinary check
  1. 6 km run
  1. Rest period - 15 mins
  1. Veterinary check
  1.  Short obedience test in groups of about 4 dogs - performed on or off lead, including recall

 

Upon satisfactory completion, a certificate is issued to each qualifying dog. 

 

Application can then be made for the award of Endurance Test (ET).
